About the ALS Photolisting Book

The Adoption Listing Service (ALS) Photolisting Book is distributed to agencies for use in matching waiting children with prospective and licensed families. Confidential information about the children is included. Only the following persons may view this publication.

  • DCFS and private agency workers
  • Licensed adoptive parents
  • Prospective adoptive parents who have completed all of the following:
    • made an initial inquiry
    • attended an orientation session
    • had an in-home consultation and been informed about the nonnegotiable licensing requirements
    • passed a CANTS/LEADS check
    • initiated the licensing process and received fingerprint clearance
    • been referred for adoption training

Children for whom parental rights have been terminated are featured with photos and descriptions in this book. Children for whom parental rights have not been terminated are listed without accompanying photos and confidential mental health information. Mental health information is not included without consent of the list child who is twelve years of age or older.
