Answers to DCFS Subsidy Questions
The primary source for answers to questions about a subsidy is the DCFS subsidy worker. The subsidy worker can help adoptive and guardianship parents who have questions about what the subsidy covers, using the subsidy to get referrals for services, or updating family address information. Below is a list of the subsidy workers serving in DCFS regional offices.

In Cook County, the Post Adoption and Guardianship Subsidy Unit has a toll-free phone number. Cook County families can call (866)538-8892. The main number to call from outside of Illinois is (312)808-5250. Each of the Cook County subsidy workers can now be reached at the toll-free line. If you don't know the worker for your child, the operator will connect you.

Missing Subsidy Checks...
If you have been receiving subsidy checks regularly and suddenly don't receive your monthly subsidy check, call the DCFS Payment Unit at 800-525-0499 select #2. Families should realize that as youth reach majority age, the subsidy payments will expire.
Mediation and Appeals of Subsidies
Your subsidy will be reviewed periodically. If the needs of the child have changed prior to review time, contact your subsidy worker to request an earlier subsidy review. If you believe, however, that your rights under an adoption assistance or subsidized guardianship agreement have been violated in some way, an Administrative Appeal may be available to you.
